Apollo Pro Electric Scooter Review

After spending several weeks with the Apollo Pro, I’ve ridden it in various conditions and pushed it to its limits in order to provide you with a comprehensive review. Designed for enthusiasts and serious commuters, the Apollo Pro is a powerful electric scooter that promises to deliver performance, comfort, and dependability, wrapped up in a sleek package.

Performance

Right out of the gate, the Apollo Pro impresses with its robust dual motors, capable of outputting a combined 2400W of power. This translates to a top speed that can reach up to 60 km/h (37 mph), which I've found to be exhilarating on open roads but requires responsible handling in urban environments.

The acceleration curve is smooth yet responsive, offering a great deal of control for experienced riders. It's worth noting, however, that a scooter this powerful may not be the best for beginners. The high torque takes some getting used to, and I would advise any new riders to start on a lower power setting before working their way up.

Range

The 52V 22.5Ah LG battery packed into the Apollo Pro is quite remarkable, affording a range of up to 90 km (56 miles) on a single charge in ideal conditions. My real-world experience has nudged closer to 70 km due to varied terrain and frequent high-speed travel, but that's still commendable, and more than enough for a day's commute including detours.

Charging time is a significant factor with electric vehicles, and the Apollo Pro doesn’t disappoint. It takes about 12 hours to fully charge with the standard charger, but if you're impatient like me, you can purchase a fast charger that slashes the charging time in half.

Comfort and Ride Quality

When it comes to comfort, the 10-inch pneumatic tires paired with the dual spring suspension system do an admirable job at absorbing the shocks from the most unforgiving potholes and bumps. The spacious deck ensures ample foot space, allowing for a comfortable riding stance even on longer commutes.

The Apollo Pro also has this authoritative road presence – it feels stable and gives you confidence even at high speeds which is crucial for a scooter that can travel as fast as this one. The hydraulic brakes provide immense stopping power, which is reassuring when dealing with the speed and weight of the scooter.

Build Quality and Portability

The build quality is where the Apollo Pro really stands up to scrutiny. The aircraft-grade aluminum frame feels rugged and is designed to handle the abuse scooters might face in a daily urban jungle. All components, from the stem to the handlebars, feel premium and reassuringly solid.

Portability, however, is a mixed bag. While it features a folding mechanism, the 34 kg (75 lbs) weight of the Apollo Pro makes it a formidable unit to lug around. It's not the most commuter-friendly when it comes to carrying it on public transport or up a flight of stairs. This is, in my view, a trade-off for the performance and range it delivers.

Design and Extras

Aesthetically, the Apollo Pro strikes a nice balance between aggressive and stylish. The LED lights, including the under-deck lighting, are not just aesthetic but provide great visibility for night rides. The intuitive display offers all the information you need at a glance, and I found the throttle and mode controls to be very user-friendly.

Extras like the IP54 water resistance rating mean you won't have to worry about getting caught in the rain, and the regenerative braking system helps eke out a little extra range. Additionally, the company's willingness to offer a comprehensive 24-month warranty speaks volumes about their confidence in this product.

Conclusion

The Apollo Pro is definitely not for everyone. It's a beast best suited to experienced riders who need to cover a lot of ground quickly and comfortably. It excels in raw performance, ride quality, and construction, but the hefty weight and size make portability a concern.

For the right user, though, the Apollo Pro will feel less like a scooter and more like a personal escape pod, propelling you across urban landscapes with speed and style. Its price point is undoubtedly on the premium side, but the investment clearly reflects in the quality and capability of the machine.

If you are looking for a high-flying, long-ranging, and exhilarating mode of transport, and if the size and weight aren't deal-breakers for you, the Apollo Pro electric scooter is an excellent choice that is likely to exceed your expectations and add a thrill to your daily commutes.

Update: Long-term Ownership Experience

Having owned the Apollo Pro for more than six months now, I've had ample time to genuinely assess its long-term viability and maintenance needs.

Positive Aspects:

  • Durability: The Apollo Pro continues to impress in terms of durability. Despite frequent use in various weather conditions, there have been no significant declines in performance or structural integrity.

  • Battery Life: The battery life has remained strong. There's been only a slight decrease in maximum range, which is common with all lithium-ion batteries and within expected parameters.

  • Service and Support: Apollo's customer service has been supportive. I've reached out a few times for minor queries, and their responsiveness has helped maintain the scooter in top shape.

Negative Aspects:

  • Weight and Portability: As mentioned, its weight continues to be an issue, particularly when using public transport or storing at home in compact spaces.

  • Complexity for Repairs: Some parts of the scooter are intricate, making DIY repairs slightly complex. However, regular service checks can mitigate most issues before they become severe.

Overall Assessment:

The Apollo Pro remains a top-tier electric scooter in the high-performance category. It's built for speed, durability, and long-term use, albeit with some trade-offs in weight and portability. For anyone looking for a reliable, powerful scooter and is not deterred by the need for occasional professional servicing, the Apollo Pro is still very much a commendable option.
