Dualtron Victor Electric Scooter Review

As someone who has dedicated a considerable amount of time to riding and analyzing electric scooters, I recently had the pleasure of testing the Dualtron Victor. The Victor model is another impressive addition to Dualtron's lineage of high-performance electric scooters, and I was eager to put this machine through its paces to see if it lives up to the brand's formidable reputation.

Performance and Speed

Right out of the gate, the Dualtron Victor's performance is nothing short of exhilarating. With a robust 4,000W BLDC dual hub motor, the scooter is capable of reaching a top speed that borders on the extreme for a personal EV - that's around 50 miles per hour, though I would always caution riders to respect local speed limits and prioritize safety. The torque was intense, making uphill climbs seem effortless, even on steep gradients. The acceleration is eye-watering and requires a cautious hand on the throttle, especially for those less used to high-powered scooters.

Range and Battery

The 60V 30Ah LG battery delivers a generous range; during my testing, I was able to squeak out approximately 50 miles while riding at mixed speeds. Intensive riding on high power modes will, of course, reduce this distance, so range anxiety won't be a concern for most riders' daily commutes. What's also important to mention is the charge time - it takes about 12 hours to fully charge with a standard charger, but if you invest in a fast charger, you can cut that time significantly.

Ride Comfort and Suspension

Dualtron is known for its attention to ride quality, and the Victor doesn't disappoint. The scooter is fitted with adjustable rubber suspension that effectively absorbs the shocks from road imperfections and delivers a smooth ride even on rough terrains. While the suspension is more on the stiffer side, which performance riders like myself appreciate for stability at high speeds, it might be a tad rigorous for casual riders. Nonetheless, navigating potholes and bumps never felt jittery or uncomfortable.

Build Quality and Design

The construction of the Dualtron Victor is imposing and gives off a solid feel. It's mostly aluminum with some steel components, which amounts to a substantial 73 pounds — not the heaviest scooter out there, but not exactly lightweight either, making portability slightly challenging. The folding mechanism is sturdy and secure, although it can be a bit cumbersome due to the scooter’s weight. As for the design, it holds the aggressive, functional aesthetic that Dualtron scooters are recognized for, appealing especially to those who prefer a more industrial look.

Braking

Safety is paramount at high speeds, and the Victor's dual hydraulic disc brakes with ABS standard live up to the task, bringing the scooter to a quick and controlled halt from top speed, providing a reassuring feel in the brake levers. Braking power is necessary for a scooter with such performance capabilities, and I felt quite confident that this setup would keep me safe in most urban and off-road conditions.

Portability

At 73 pounds, the Dualtron Victor is not the most portable scooter on the market. It does fold, but the weight and dimensions when folded might make it tough to lug around for anything more than a short distance. It's more suited to be stowed in a trunk or similar storage areas rather than carrying it by hand for extended periods.

Advanced Features

The Victor offers a few high-tech features, including an eye-catching EYE throttle which allows you to customize settings and monitor your ride statistics. The innovative EYE display is something I particularly liked, with its clear, bright interface and multitude of settings and information. The scooter also comes with LED lights that make night riding safer and more enjoyable.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Incredible speed and performance.

  • Sturdy and aggressive design.

  • Long-range capabilities.

  • Superior suspension system.

  • Strong braking power with ABS.

Cons:

  • Heavy, which affects portability.

  • Long charge time without a fast charger.

  • Stiff suspension may not appeal to all riders.

Verdict

The Dualtron Victor is a powerhouse scooter built for the performance enthusiast. Its combination of speed, range, and ride comfort make it a formidable player in the high-end electric scooter market. It's not for the faint of heart nor ideal for those requiring frequent portability, but for thrill-seekers and commuters with a need for speed, it is an investment that delivers adrenaline in spades. As always, I must emphasize that with great power comes great responsibility—wear your helmet and riding gear, and ensure you comply with local regulations.

In summary, the Dualtron Victor stands tall as a giant of performance in the electric scooter world. Its quality, power and range make it a fantastic option for anyone looking to upgrade to a scooter that offers a little bit more of everything.

Update After 6 Months of Usage

Having owned and used the Dualtron Victor extensively for over six months, I feel equipped to provide some deeper insights into its long-term performance and practicality.

Long-Term Performance

The scooter continues to impress with its robust performance over extended use. The motors and battery pack have maintained their integrity and performance metrics, showing little to no wear or degradation. However, it's crucial to maintain timely maintenance, particularly with the brakes and suspension, to keep the scooter in peak condition.

Practical Daily Use

For everyday commutes, the Victor proves its worth every single day. Whether it's navigating through city traffic or taking on more open roads, the scooter's capabilities handle these with ease. However, the weight continues to be a minor drawback, especially when faced with the need to carry it up flights of stairs or on public transport.

Durability Concerns

The build quality speaks volumes, as there have been no significant issues with its structural integrity. Minor scratches and wear are visible on the body which is expected from daily usage and do not impact performance. Regular cleaning and maintenance have kept it looking nearly as good as new.

Additional Observations

One thing to note is that the stiff suspension, while excellent for performance, does make longer rides slightly less comfortable than some may prefer, particularly on very rough surfaces. An aspect that has stood out more significantly with time is the EYE display system which continues to be a focal point for its ease of use and the wealth of information it provides.

Ownership Recommendation

For those considering the Dualtron Victor, know that while it is an investment, it is very much worth it if your use case matches the capabilities of this scooter. The performance, durability, and thrill it offers are hardly matched by other models on the market right now.
