SXT Monster Electric Scooter Review: A Mighty Off-Road Beast

When it comes to declaring a scooter an absolute beast in the off-road electric scooter category, the SXT Monster stands out boldly. The Monster delivers an exhilarating blend of power, durability, and off-road capability that's hard to match. I've spent substantial time with this scooter to bring you a review that encapsulates the full experience.

Performance and Power

The SXT Monster offers two motor options: a 2000W or an even more robust 3000W motor. The power transmitted through a chain to the rear wheel propels this scooter with an aggression that is nothing short of impressive. With a top speed that can hit up to 60 km/h, this scooter is not for the faint-hearted. Its climb capability is also commendable, making it perfect for hilly terrains and challenging landscapes.

Battery and Range

Customization is key with the SXT Monster as you can choose between a 48V 12Ah lead-acid battery or opt for lithium batteries with 20Ah or 30Ah capacities. The range varies accordingly:

  • 48V 12Ah Lead-acid: up to 25 km

  • 48V 20Ah LiFePo4: up to 38 km

  • 48V 30Ah Li-ion: up to 55 km

Regardless of your choice, the Monster ensures that you have sufficient range to explore the off-beaten paths or commute with assurance. The charging times differ based on the battery, but the convenience of a removable battery makes it hassle-free to bring it to your charging station.

Riding Experience and Comfort

The SXT Monster redefines comfort in the electric scooter space with its massive, air-filled off-road tires and a robust suspension system featuring double shock absorbers at both ends. As I traversed through different terrains, the comfort delivered by this suspension setup was unmatched.

The inclusion of a seat might seem unusual for purists, but it provides an added layer of stability and comfort, especially for longer rides. And when it comes to customization, everything from the seat height to the handlebars can be adjusted to accommodate riders of various sizes.

Safety and Braking

Safety on a powerful scooter like the SXT Monster is paramount. The dual mechanical disc brakes have commendable stopping power, assuring your safety even at high speeds. The off-road tires offer excellent grip for varied terrains; however, it's worth noting that they require thoughtful handling on asphalt.

The scooter's lighting system, including the adjustable and double front lights and the brilliantly designed rear LED light with integrated brake and turn signals, makes sure visibility is never an issue, both for you and others around.

Design and Build Quality

The SXT Monster's design is rugged, reflecting its off-road DNA. Built with high-tensile steel, it's not lightweight by any means, with the weight ranging from 47 to 55 kg based on the battery configuration. However, this weight contributes to the scooter's stability and robustness. The bamboo wooden deck beautifully contrasts the technical aesthetic, adding a touch of nature to the machine.

Portability

The Monster may not be the most portable scooter around given its hefty build, but it does feature a folding mechanism for the steering column and removable seat, making it a bit easier to stow away.

Practicality for Everyday Use

Despite being an off-road champion, the SXT Monster can be used for daily commutes, provided that you have ample space for storage and don't need to frequently carry it up flights of stairs. It's best suited for someone who has storage space at ground level or is looking primarily for an adventure ride.

Owner Update: After 6+ Months of Riding the SXT Monster

Having owned the SXT Monster for over six months and ridden it extensively, I have gathered more insights into its long-term performance and practicality:

Positives:

  • Durability: The build quality has stood the test of time. Despite numerous off-road trips and exposure to various elements, the scooter still performs exceptionally well, with minimal signs of wear and tear.

  • Performance Consistency: The power output and battery efficiency have remained steady, showing no significant decrease in performance or range.

  • Comfort on Long Rides: The added comfort from the seat and suspension continues to be a significant advantage, making long rides as enjoyable as short sprints.

Negatives:

  • Weight and Portability: The weight of the scooter continues to be an issue for scenarios where carrying it is necessary. Its robust build, while advantageous for stability and durability, limits its portability.

  • Maintenance: Regular maintenance, especially chain lubrication and tire pressure checks, are necessary to keep it performing at its best, adding a bit to the overall effort required in its upkeep.

  • Limited Urban Use: Given its size and power, navigating busy urban environments can be challenging, especially during peak traffic times.

Final Thought

The SXT Monster electric scooter remains a top contender in the off-road category, balancing power and performance exquisitely. For anyone looking for an electric scooter that can transcend conventional boundaries and tackle any terrain thrown at it, the SXT Monster is a formidable choice, providing an exhilarating and reliable riding experience.
