Xiaomi M365 Pro Electric Scooter Review

Having ridden the Xiaomi M365 Pro, I can confidently say it's a significant improvement over its predecessor. The 300W motor efficiently powers the scooter, offering a top speed of 15.5 mph. Its three riding modes – Eco, Drive, and Sports – suit various riding preferences, with Eco mode being particularly battery-efficient.

The battery life is impressive, with up to 27 miles on a full charge. However, charging takes about nine hours, which is something to consider if you plan frequent, long rides. The scooter's 8.5-inch pneumatic tires contribute to a smooth and stable ride, although the absence of an integrated suspension system makes it less suitable for rough terrains.

Weighing about 31 lbs, the scooter is stable and relatively easy to carry, thanks to its efficient folding mechanism. While the scooter feels a bit bulky when folded, it's not too cumbersome for short distances.

In terms of build, the M365 Pro feels robust and well-constructed, with a sturdy aluminum-alloy frame. The IP54 water resistance rating is reassuring, though I wouldn't recommend pushing its limits in heavy rain.

The dual-brake system, combining motor and mechanical disc brakes, provides reliable stopping power. I found the regenerative braking adjustable through the app to be a useful feature.

Connecting the scooter to the Mi Home app enhances the experience, offering remote locking and firmware updates. The range of available accessories also allows for significant customization to fit personal needs and style.

In my time using the Xiaomi M365 Pro, I've encountered no major issues. It's a solid, versatile choice, especially for urban commuting and moderate distances. While it may not cater to high-speed enthusiasts or off-road riders, its balance of range, portability, and overall value makes it a great option for both new and experienced scooter users.

Update After Six Months of Ownership

Six months and many rides later, my experience with the Xiaomi M365 Pro continues to be largely positive, but more nuanced as I've come to understand its strengths and weaknesses better.

Positives:

  1. Reliability: The scooter has proven reliable for daily commutes. The battery longevity remains consistent, with no significant decrease in performance, which speaks well for its durability.

  2. Portability: Although on the heavier side for some, the foldable design has made it practical for combining riding with public transport.

  3. Maintenance: Overall, maintenance has been straightforward. Regular checks and tire pressure adjustments have kept it running smoothly.

Negativess:

  1. Comfort over rough surfaces: The lack of suspension has become more noticeable over time, especially on longer rides on uneven surfaces. This can make for a less comfortable experience compared to scooters with more robust suspension systems.

  2. Tire issues: The pneumatic tires, while providing a smooth ride on well-maintained roads, are prone to punctures. I've had to replace a tire during these six months, which was a bit of a hassle.

  3. Weight: The 31-lb weight can be cumbersome if you need to carry the scooter for extended periods or upstairs frequently.

In summary, while the Xiaomi M365 Pro remains a strong contender in the urban scooter market, potential buyers should consider how much rough terrain riding they plan and how much weight they are comfortable carrying. For city environments and relatively smooth surfaces, it continues to be an excellent choice.
